Gas vs EV cost comparison

Estimates cover energy only. They leave out maintenance, insurance, purchase price, incentives, charger install, and time-of-use rates.

EV charging data comes from the NREL Alternative Fuels Data Center API (US DOE). This draft uses the shared DEMO_KEY, which is heavily rate-limited. Change CONFIG.NREL_API_KEY in js/app.js to swap in your own key.
⛽ Gas stations and live pump prices: placeholder
Not live. Prices at individual gas stations need a paid commercial data feed (for example OPIS or GasBuddy business data). NREL's API covers alternative fuels only. To add a provider, implement GAS_PROVIDER.search(location) in js/app.js. It should return [{name, address, price, updated}]. Until then, the calculator uses EIA regional averages.
